A box came in the mail yesterday from Pira in the Czech Republic that contained an inexpensive (170 EUR) Radio Data System 57kHz data subcarrier generator for analog FM broadcast. I plopped it in the feed to the transmitter at KUCR in Riverside. It set up and worked nicely, ready later for fully implemented RDS (RBDS actually in the USA)that displays music artist and song title information. This is the first time that KUCR 88.3 has ever broadcast RDS info. We programmend call letters to ID the station and the repeating slogan scrolling "Award Winning Student Radio from UC Riverside KUCR.ORG" I wonder if anyone will notice ?

The UCR mascot bear is named Scotty.
I'm out here futzing with the "historic" KUCR 88.3 Mhz facility.
